2023 Pointer and Setter Field trials cancelled

Due to circumstances beyond our control our Field Trials scheduled for this weekend have been cancelled by DV.

To say we are disappointed is an understatement I have been looking forward to this event all year as I know our loyal competitors have been also. Thanks to Joe and Fernando for all their hard work – GSCV Secretary Sue

Below is an excerpt of a letter from DV CEO Jason Eggleton.
Unfortunately at this stage Dogs Victoria’s Insurance Broker Petcover, working with specialist insurance brokers, have not been able to secure Public Liability Insurance for Personal Injury connected with firearms.

We have approached kindred associations and bodies and been able to identify Specialty underwriters have been identified and submission made to them for insurance, but as of 5pm today there is no confirmed Public Liability Insurance for Personal Injury connected with firearms

Given the organisation involved and distance some competitors are travelling for events and that it is Wednesday evening, it is my recommendation that the RAFT events scheduled for this weekend of May 6th and 7th should not be held and they be rescheduled through discussion with the RAFT, Clubs, DV Events Team and the Calender Committee.

I had thought that the only events affected would have been last weekend, however the State Governments restriction of the Quail Season has caused further upheaval to Calender and events.

I am sorry that we have to recommend such action but given the current circumstances, I feel there is no choice.

I will continue to work with our insurers and the RAFT Committee and community to find alternate insurance to ensure we can resume RAFT activity asap.
